GET READY FLORIDA:
FREE HURRICANE PREP KITS AT 8 LOCATIONS
ON JUNE 6!
The 2026 hurricane season is officially here, and being proactive is the absolute best way to protect your home and your family. To help our communities get a head start, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM)—Florida's largest independent food bank—is partnering with Farm Share and amazing sponsors like Sunshine Health, Baptist Health, and Amazon to host a massive, statewide Free Hurricane Preparedness Distribution Event.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 6, 2026. Starting at 9:00 AM, you can pick up completely free disaster preparedness kits packed with vital essentials, including flashlights, ponchos, weather radios, emergency blankets, and clean water.
There is no paperwork, no documentation, and no ID required at most general locations—supplies are available to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Because these kits are highly sought after, you absolutely want to get there early!
The distribution is happening across 8 main locations in Florida:
Miami-Dade County
Miami Gardens: Antioch Missionary Baptist Church (21311 NW 34th Ave)
Homestead: Harris Field Park (1034 NE 8th St) (Note: The Homestead drive-thru site specifically requires a valid photo ID to verify local city residency).
Hialeah: Milander Park (4700 Palm Ave) — PLEASE NOTE: This specific location takes place on Sunday, June 7!
Broward County
Sunrise: Amerant Bank Arena (1 Panther Pkwy)
Lauderdale Lakes: Vincent Torres Park (4431 NW 36th St)
Central and Northern Florida
Belle Glade: Hand Park (500 W Canal St S)
Fort Myers: Next Level Church (12400 Plantation Rd)
Jacksonville: Celebration Church (9555 RG Skinner Pkwy)
